YOU ARE LOVED by God the Father, Jesus Christ His son, and the Holy Spirit. You are loved by the Church of the Living God leadership team, and you are loved by your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Float like a butterfly, don’t sting like a bee.
Jesus wants us to take the burdens of our lives and give them to Him. Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” The yoke Jesus was speaking of was His rabbinical teachings, we are to literally take His teachings upon us, and become like the Rabbi. It is not enough to just have head knowledge, how does it show up in your life? How you handle your burdens determines whether you float like a butterfly through life, or sting like a bee.
Are you giving your burdens to Jesus and taking on the yoke of His teachings?
You are “perfectly” saved: past, present, and future.
The foundation for a burden-free life is that you have to realize that God loves you and won’t reject you. Salvation is more than a just a prayer to get to Heaven, it is an ongoing act. It was written in the perfect tense, (which we don’t have in the English language), which means by grace you have been saved, you are saved, and you will be saved. In your past, current, or even future mistakes God will save you, because He loves you and you were created to be in a relationship with Him. Nothing else will satisfy the deep yearning in your heart, but to know the Lord.
Have you internalized that you are loved and accepted by God?
Cast your burdens, don’t carry, bury, or marry them.
Do you carry, bury, or marry a burden? You carry a burden when you think that you just have to try to get better and overcome it in your own strength and will, trying to white-knuckle life. You bury a burden when you have carried it for too long, and try to just disregard it. For example, burying yourself in video games as a way to check out of life. You marry a burden when you start to identify with it, for example, “I’m an angry person”, instead of finding a solution, it now becomes your identity. Instead of doing any of those things, we are to come to Jesus and cast our burdens on Him, because when Jesus shed His blood for us, it allowed us access to come, just as we are, to Him.
Have you cast your burdens on the one who can carry them?
Jesus isn’t a side piece of life, He is the center.
Too often we want Jesus on the side in our life. When you come to Him, you can not just incorporate Him in to your life. He is not supposed to be a part of your life, He BECOMES your life, the center of it all.
Have you made Jesus the center of your life, or is He just a piece?
Jesus’ ways are only achievable through Himself.
Jesus’ ways are not the world’s ways; His ways are even higher than the former ways of the Old Testament law. Not only are we supposed to not sin, we are supposed to not THINK about sinning- it’s a higher, impossible level. What Jesus taught we can’t possibly achieve...without Him. He is not expecting us to do it on our own strength, He is expecting us to connect with the one who CAN!
Are you connected to the only one who can bring you to His level-JESUS?
Spend time with God to prevent being burdened by the world.
When you are feeling burdened, that can be an indication that you are not spending enough time with God. Too often we are spending time with God out of necessity, instead of desire. We must not wait for burn out to spend time in God’s presence, we are to continually rest in Him. Resting in God is not a vacation, it is merely the sense of “God, you’ve got it”. It’s the sense in your heart that God is in control, it is not a passive feeling, but an action.
Are you resting in God, or feeling burdened by the world?
Don’t be a gas light to gas light Christian.
Many of us wait until the gas light is on until we fill our vehicle’s tank, but we can’t be that way with our Christian walk. We can’t wait until we are at the end of our fuel to be in God’s presence, worship Him, or read the word, because then we are barely getting by. What if instead, God wanted us to be FILLED, so that others could siphon off of us when they needed to? What if God wants us to OVERFLOW?
Are you at the end of your gas tank, or overflowing in the Lord?
