OUR STORY
Church of the Living God started from small beginnings. Robert Dowdy, Sr. and his late wife, Doris pastored our first Sunday service on January 26, 1976 in the home of George and Margie Martin. Each service grew as they met in a local Galveston building. The congregation grew so big, tent meetings were held as revival swept across the Island. Soon a parcel of land was purchased on Seven Mile Road and construction began on what is now the present church building.
Pastor Dowdy, Sr. and his present wife, Claudia served the Lord faithfully until 2011 and are now serving as Pastor Emeritus.
FOR THE KIDS
Our Children’s Church ministry happens during the Sunday 10:00am service. We value children as we have age-appropriate ministry including nursery for infants to preschoolers and Bible lessons and activities for kids through age 12.
Youth Alive meets Friday evenings at 7:00-8:30pm. This ministry is geared for teenagers ages 12 to 18. Come hangout, participate in music/games and then deepen your faith with a practical talk from the Bible. Throughout the year, activities include a youth retreat and service project. GET INVOLVED
